About The Sponsor File

The Sponsor File recomputes U.S. work-visa disclosure data into one page per employer, city and job title. Every number here is calculated from the published source files listed below — none of it is copied from another site, and none of it is estimated where the underlying records are missing.

It exists because the same facts are otherwise scattered across four separate government releases that use different employer names, different time periods, and different units. Putting them on one page is the whole product.

Coverage and record counts are read from the database when this page loads, not typed in. A coverage note that has to be edited by hand goes stale silently, and a stale coverage note is worse than none — it looks maintained.The full method is in Methodology.

It does not predict whether any individual petition will be approved, and it does not rank employers as better or worse. Where a sample is too small to support a percentage, it shows the counts instead of the percentage — seethe sample thresholds. Where a data source does not cover a state or a year, it says so rather than leaving a blank that reads like a zero — see what a blank means.

Employer records are merged only on deterministic evidence, and the raw filed names behind each merge are listed on the employer's own page so the merge can be checked. If a page combines two companies that are not the same, that is visible there. If a number does not match the source files, write to us — seecontact and data corrections. There is no form; we do not collect anything.
